Aloha! My name is Shannon Satovich and I am the founder of Fun, Fit and Strong, a team of amazing women that encourage and support each other to succeed with our health and fitness goals.
Are you currently in a rut of sorts? Maybe you got hurt and haven’t ever gotten back in the swing of things. Maybe you had kids and they took over your life but now you want to take at least a small piece back. Maybe you’ve just been living life and have let things get away from you but now you’re thinking you want to change things. All of these explain exactly where I was before I got my groove back and started taking care of me again!!!
To let you in on my back story a little bit, I was pretty active most of my life until an injury (lower back, hip and knee) completely sidelined me about 6.5 years ago. I stopped being active in any way because of this, even stopped playing with my kids for about a year and gained 20+ lbs, lost all my confidence and self worth and had absolutely no energy (kind of like what happened in 2020 for so many people)… I felt horrible!!! As in down in the dumps, beating up on myself all day everyday and not seeing any kind of light at the end of it… it sucked!!! When I finally peeled myself up off the floor (so to speak) and started back up I was in what I call a “failure cycle” for a VERY LONG TIME!!! I would start, my injuries would act up, so I’d stop, then I’d want to do better so I’d start again and stop again and repeat over and over and over again. I did this for about 7 months… it was hard, it was frustrating, it was degrading and it downright wasn’t fun at all!!! I hated this almost as much as doing nothing at all!!!

I am an introvert at my core and I have 3 kids and the idea of going to a gym was just not in the cards for me at all! But I came across an online health and fitness challenge group that I thought maybe could work for me, so I joined it.
I knew I could no longer let myself fail, I had to commit completely… 100%!
I got a journal, planned everything… every meal, every workout, my water intake and my sleep. I learned how to eat smarter, eat better, stay full and satisfied and most importantly enjoy my food. I learned how important proper form is to my results. I learned how to stay positive and keep moving forward everyday when I wanted to quit. I just learned how to take better care of myself by taking care of my mental self first to then take care of my physical self…
I started October 21, 2015 (that first picture shows me on day 1) and the results shocked me! 11 inches gone in 21 days… 11 inches!!! So I kept with it and lost another 3.5 inches in just 21 more days! By the 3rd month I had lost more than 18″, the entire 20+ lbs (plus some more) and MOST IMPORTANTLY had gained my life back!!!! I felt good again, I had my confidence back, my injuries were gone and my kids got their happy go lucky mom back again!!! It changed my life FOREVER and is plain and simply just a part of my daily life now! It wasn’t easy, I had to work for it EVERYDAY but oh my goodness was it SO WORTH IT!!!

And then 2020 hit and threw us all for a loop didn’t it!!! It was just about the craziest year ever for all of us!
Of course because of Covid but also because for us we went through the biggest health scare our our lives where we almost lost my husband (not Covid related) and even though after the hardest months of our lives and he is doing better, this is now a life long health challenge that we have to deal with. And then both of us are teachers so what a crazy year for this profession it has been both as educators and as parents!!! And I know you also have your own crazy story about last year!
But guess what??? It was my consistent, daily at home workouts that gave me the strength, both mentally and physically, to push through and stay strong through it all! Without my workouts giving me the ability to think about something else for a little bit, giving me energy to get through my day, calming me down, allowing me to think straight and just staying in shape during our time at home… I don’t know that I would have made it through the year as well as we did, and that’s the honest truth!!!

It has been 5+ years now since I committed to this life long journey and I have since moved on to complete several other fitness programs including everything from traditional fitness, cardio, weight training and martial arts to dancing and yoga and everything in between. I’ve been uncomfortable, uncoordinated, sore and exhausted. But I’ve also been excited, happy, goofy and confident in what I am doing and what I have been able to overcome!!!
Overall, since October 2015 I have lost 24 inches, 6 dress sizes and most importantly have kept it off while keeping my energy high!!!
Well, things change, and for you to fully grasp my “why” for all of this I decided I had to share these with you! You see, I wasn’t comfortable with myself anymore, I felt blah and tired and I hated putting on my bathing suit! I live in Hawaii, you can’t live in Hawaii and hate to put on a bathing suit!!!!
That is why I decided to become a coach and help others! I know everyone has their own journey, their own story, that’s what makes us unique. On the outside, yours is probably completely different than mine, but we all have a common goal… to be happy, have fun, get fit and be strong, to finally give yourself the grace to put yourself first so you have more to give the ones you love and together, supporting each other, we can do this! One of my greatest joys is to see people get healthier, to help them exceed their expectations and actualize their goals. All while realizing that exercise is fun and proper nutrition is filling and delicious!
